Uday Kiran who had a dream launch as an actor has been struggling to find a success since Manasantha Nuvve.
What is it about?
Sri Ram Srinivas aka SriSri (Uday Kiran) is a sincere police who doesn't tolerate injustice. He comes to know that Chintamani and Devudu (Gowtam Raju and Aditya) are selling organs of orphans and he gets evidence to arrest them. But they beat Sri Ram to pulp and arrest him in a small room. Sri Ram finds a way out of it. His mother and sister were brutally killed while Sri Ram was entrapped and now he avenges their deaths.
Performances:
Uday Kiran is known for soft lover boy roles. In this film he tries out a role that doesn't suit his image. He did okay as the powerful cop. Despite his efforts his past image over shadows this performance and it is tough for anybody to accept him as a tough cop. Reshma is alright. She is hardly seen in the second half of the film. Gowtam Raju went overboard at times and so did Aditya Menon. Chalapathi Rao, Benjarjee, Sana and others did their bit.
Technicalities:
Music by Dhake is painful on ears. None of the songs are worth watching or listening. Background score by Chinna is okay. Cinematography is too bad. The film looked like TV serial. Editing, which is also done by the director is pathetic at best. Director has no clue about what to make. His shot division, framing are pretty bad. Script is awful if it has any. Don't talk about production values.
Analysis:
Jai Sri Ram is touted to be the sequel to Sriram movie starring Uday Kiran, which was a remake of successful Tamil film Dil. Sriram didn't do well but it had some very good music and nice production values. Even the script of that movie is impressive. Jai Sri Ram is not even a piece of it. This film is like a bad Sri Hari kind of cop movie. Uday Kiran looked out of place in it. We have to feel pity for him as he is sliding further down with each outing.
This film looks like a failure right away. First shot of the film itself gives you an idea of how bad it is going to be. Director made it worse with each scene. The story never gets going and the only twist comes at the interval point and anybody with minimum filmy knowledge could guess it. Second half runs on a predictable mode with some of the stupidest scenes ever seen on Telugu screen.
Some movies might score on the technical side even if the script is bad. But this film doesn't score on any level. We don't know if Uday Kiran is trying to come out of the hole or further digging in. Films like this will never let him find the light again.
